Kingdom Realty and its team of realtors supports the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB’s) efforts to jumpstart homeownership among Black Americans with the launch of the organization’s “2 Million New Black Homeowners in 5 Years” nationwide initiative.
NAREB is the oldest professional minority real estate trade association formed in 1947 to advocate for returning World War II Black soldiers unable to purchase homes of their choice.
According to NAREB President Ron Cooper, Black Americans lag far behind with a homeownership rate of 41.7%, as compared to a 72.2% for non-Hispanic whites, a wealth and homeownership gap he calls “unacceptable.”
“The goal of NAREB’s new “2 Million New Black Homeowners in 5 Years” program is to reverse the loss of wealth in our communities,” said Cooper.
Black Americans never experienced the economic recovery after the country’s 2008 meltdown, shared the NAREB president.
“Homeownership is the first step on the road to wealth building. It’s time that we join forces with financial institutions, mortgage lenders, social, economic and civil organizations, and housing counselors to start wealth building activity in our nation’s urban areas. Economic security for Black Americans is a national issue that we intend to keep front and center and make happen, said Cooper.
Kingdom Realty Managing Broker Dorothy Mitchell shares NAREB’s vision and looks forward to working with her team of professional and licensed realtors to find homes for Black Americans in the Houston and surrounding areas in support of this initiative.
“I have the desire for all African American’s who are able and working a full-time job to own their own homes. It may not happen tomorrow, it may not happen in 3 months, but if you stay focused and determined to own a home, we will see it through with you,” said Mitchell.
With a number of banks offering no-downpayment and no-mortgage protection insurance (MPI) programs, Mitchell added that “now” is the good time to consider purchasing a new home.
Kingdom Realty recently celebrated the opening of its office in the Power Center and invites prospective homebuyers, sellers and investors to entrust their real estate needs to the company’s licensed and professional real estate team.
